A strong case for advertising on Facebook

Facebook is like a billion users watching tv and seeing ads now and then. Those ads are invaluable if they target youth. It's like owning all of the major tv networks back in the eighties at once, and collecting on advertising revenue. Zuckerberg has something big here. If I wanted to place an ad on tv, I'd certainly want it on Facebook too. This is a no-brainer.

Even though Facebook Pages are a simple, free product for businesses to create a Facebook presence and connect with new and loyal customers, Mark Zuckerberg should draw the line when it comes to companies advertising their Facebook presence. Many TV ads invite viewers to visit their Facebook page, and this is where the cutoff point should be between free usage of their Facebook page and advertising their Facebook page. Facebook's popularity is being utilized to the advantage of the businesses and Facebook isn't being rewarded for it. Now sure, when visiting say Toyota.com, a link to their Facebook page gives Toyota a way to connect with ALREADY interested customers or customers they have landed via the internet. However, when it comes to media advertising their Facebook presence, this is where Mark Zuckerberg should step in and require a fee or contract.

Google Plus is Google's answer to Facebook and it can be integrated with your Blogger, Twitter and Facebook accounts using Google's tools. The important thing here for all of us is how to get more followers or friends. Google Plus gives you search terms that people may be interested in and if you search for items that are popular and which correspond to the topics you talk about, its a great way to find the followers you are looking for. It is also a way to enhance you insights on such topics. You may find that, for example, by searching for "What is Zynga", you'd find my profile and if I'm discussing Zynga games, and you engage in the conversation and follow me, I'm likely to follow or Plus you back. Also, whenever you discuss a topic on another blog or Facebook or Twitter when using Google Chrome, a script pops up giving you a Share This template with circles you formed in prior Google Plus searches and follows. There is great potential to gain thousands of followers if you search for very interesting and popular topics, follow those with circles on that topic and responding to their posts.

Renren is the largest social network in China and has recently signed deals with Angry Birds, Intel and a leading Japanese social site. With the popularity of Facebook and the excitement building over Facebook's pending IPO, investing in Renren or (RENN) might be worth a play. Especially since Renren is selling for a mere 7.00 per share in the stock market. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if social networking in a communist country will be as successful and commercially profitable as it is with Facebook.

American Idol is on its typical course as American girls laying on their bellies next to their mothers, texting their friends and voting for their favorite hunks results in Colton and Phil getting the most votes. The other things that factor in our the traditional American blonde and brunette (Hollie and Skylar, although Hollie has a foreign accent) to which these young American girls can best relate with and try to emulate in their dreams, their aspirations, what I call the resonating factor. This leaves out Joshua, Jessica Sanchez and Elise.

2012 NL East Predictions

Well another baseball season has begun and its time to make my predictions. In the NL East, the Phillies have such dominant pitching that they are a cinch to win more than 90 games and another division title. The rest of the pack consists of a make-shift Florida/Miami team filled with "me-players" and nutty management, a highly over rated Washington Nationals team, an aging Atlanta Braves and under-rated Mets team.

1. Phillies - Not strong offensively, but confident, poised, clutch enough to get the runs they need to win near 100 games.

2. Mets Too many .300 hitters and 20 HR guys, and too many decent starting pitchers to finish any lower than the Phillies. Granted, they have to work on their bullpen and defense, but this team is for real and will battle for a wild card spot. Look for Mike Pelfrey to find his groove with his new full-windup approach and for Jonathon Niese to move into the elite starter status. Dillon Gee and Johan Santana will keep them in ballgames as well. Their weak spot appears to be their knuckleballer, and even R.A. Dickey is good enough to pitch .500 baseball.

3. Atlanta Braves They are getting older and injured but they still have stability in their rotation with Tim Hudson, Tommy Hanson and Juergons. Their offense appears to be weak, but they do have enough to vie for that second wildcard spot.

4. Washington Nationals - Not much to brag about here. They have one starter who Dave Johnson can count on and that is Jordan Zimmerman IF he stays healthy. Remember, he had surgery a few years ago along with Strousburg. They aren't even using John Lannan this season, as it appears the wallet is getting tight and they are looking to force a trade before a contract for what is certainly a great future pitching star. To think that they are not going with their number one starting pitcher who had a respectable 3 something ERA tells you there is a feeling out process here and this team isn't dedicated to win just yet. Offense is shakey. Nobody can hit .300 in this lineup.

5. Miami Marlins. This will be the Mess of 2012, or should I say the 2010 Mets revisited? A bunch of me-players, a make-shift rotation with nut cases and injury plagued would be stars. An outfield that wouldn't start in college. One star you can be excited about is Mike Stanton in Right Field. Reyes and Ramirez and that other clown Ozzie Guillen will make this entertaining and controversial laughing stock baseball for 2012 sorry to say.

The Rest....

Central

1. Cards - What a great organization.
2. Brewers - They'll battle the Mets for the first wildcard spot.
3. Pirates - third place by default. The default criteria is this. The Cubs and Astros stink more.
4. Cubs - Slightly less stinky than the Astros.
5. Astros - Stink, Stank, Stunk!

West

1. Los Angeles Dodgers - Primed and ready to make a championship run.
2. S.F. Giants - The west version of the Phillies but with less offensive clutch. Might get 3rd wild card though and with Lincecum, Cain and Bumgarner, you never know.
3. Rockies - Never enough pitching.
4. Padres - Never enough anything.

AL

East
1. Yankees - Remember, Kentucky won the NCAA and you know what that means.
2. Tampa Rays - They'll battle Texas for the first wild card.
3. Boston - A mediocre team for this season.
4. Toronto - Not very good. A few young arms and 3b guy to watch though.
5. Orioles - They are a disgrace.

Central
1. Detroit - Great team. All the trimmings.
2. Minnesota
3. Chicago
4. Kansas City
5. Cleveland

West

1. Los Angeles Angels - 110 wins not out of the question.
2. Texas Rangers - Still competitive, but weaker.
3. Oakland
4. Seattle

The Killing Opens up with a bang

The Killing opened up season 2 with a bang, or 2 and promises alot of intrigue as more mysterious plots develop, unexpected surprises abound and the suspense gets even more intense. Linden and Holder are right in the middle of it again, and that's a good thing because they make a great detective duo and it appears they will have to weed their way through all of the webs weaved by the writers of this very good drama and suspenseful series. "Holder" right there! I won't spoil it so watch it and enjoy!

Zynga has recently purchased OMGpop and it makes me suspicious what the motivation would be except to establish rights to the most popular social games. Maybe CEO Pincus is establishing purchasing value for a major Facebook competitor like Google. As you know, Google has just launched Google Play and it would greatly enhance google's social relevance if they add these popular Zynga games to their Google Plus service.

Mark Pincus, the founder of Facebook and mobile game giant Zynga, has made comments suggesting that the company is considering bringing games to Xbox Live.

In a recent interview with, Pincus said, "Right now we are building back-end technology, so that your game state can be saved and served up in difference screens/devices. The interaction cues will take from the different devices. In other words, you can play a game on a computer and call it up on Xbox and you resume from the point you left off, except the game play will now be customized for the Xbox controller."

The Walking Dead is too predictable

After watching two seasons of The Walking Dead on AMC, I am disappointed. The acting and the storyline are great, but because its all based on a previously released story, namely comics, we know in advance the direction the show will go. If The Walking Dead were an original story, this would be a really great show to follow. However, all we have to do is read the comic summary at Wikipedia and we will know in advance what will happen over the remaining seasons of what could've been a really special program.

From the death of Shane to the eventual discovery of comic character Michonne, there will be few surprises and little to get excited about in The Walking Dead series. The season finale wasn't a finale, it was a preview of the next chapter in an already revealed storyline. It's a shame.

If Facebook were to buy Zynga for 30.00 per share, the deal would probably go through and it would beneifit Facebook's IPO price in May.

How To Clear Google Chrome Search History. Simply log into Google Chrome or Google Account. For Google Chrome, there is a wrench you click and you'll find a dropdown list and you'll click options. A page will come up and there will be a "under the hood" link on the left. Click it and you will see an option to clear your google search history (actually it reads clear browsing data) and comes with a default deletion of all searches in the prior 4 weeks. You can choose "from the beginning of time" to delete all of your google chrome search history.

As if Apple Inc. isn't doing good enough, they show their absolute disregard for business ethics and common decency by asking a judge for permission to sue an already bankrupt American icon Kodak. Kodak has touched the lives of millions of Americans and has been victimized by the very technology that Apple is a part of. But as if being outcast by newer innovation wasn't enough, the company that has had the most success is attempting to sue, attempting to throw salt on the wounds of Kodak by scavenging for their patents.

It's time for everybody to boycott this company called Apple Inc., who has 500,000 employees, cheap labor in China, but a measly 50,000 Americans employed. Greed, profits, power. That's Apple Inc.

Newt Gingrich said he was going to piece together a new contract with America over the next few days. Here are some excerpts from his speech after finishing second in the Florida Primaries:

"In 1994, building on that experience, we got 350 candidates to come and to be part of a Contract with America, to stand on the Capitol steps. We offered a positive program, and we had the largest one-party increase in American history in an off-year. Nine million additional Americans voted for a positive vision, and we kept our word, and every item in the contract was voted on in the first 93 days.

There’s — there’s a core question, both in the primaries and in the general election, a simple question. If you’re comfortable with the way America’s decaying, then we don’t have to change much. We can just manage the decay.

I’ll give you a couple more. We’re going to put together a package. You’re going to see, this is what a serious conservative president is like, who is bold and is prepared to change Washington, despite the screams of the establishment of both parties.

So a couple more steps. We will on that day sign an executive order that will instruct the State Department that day to open the embassy in Jerusalem and recognize Israel.

I'll give you just two more examples. I will sign on that day an executive order reinstating Ronald Reagan’s Mexico City policy. No U.S. money will go anywhere in the world to pay for abortion, period.

And finally, many of you may have noticed that the Obama administration has declared war on the Catholic Church and other religious institutions. I want you to know that, on the very first day, I will sign an executive order repealing every anti-religious act of the Obama administration as of that moment.

The reason I’m comfortable telling you all this is I have been studying what America needs to do, since the fall of 1958, when my dad was stationed in Europe in the Army. I have been working at what we need to do, as congressman, speaker of the House, in the private sector. I believe it is possible to get this country back on track.

My commitment is to unleash the spirit of the American people, to find new and innovative and positive things, to do them seven days a week, to do them relentlessly, to do them without stop, to make sure that we have fundamentally gotten America back on the right track.

And I pledge to each and every one of you personally: If you will reach out across the country, if you will use Facebook and YouTube and Twitter and phone calls and even visits, if you will tell all of your friends in the other 46 states that there is a chance to nominate a conservative who knows what he’s doing, who has done it before, and who has the courage and determination to get it done, I promise you that if I become your president, I pledge to you my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor. This is about America.
