It may sound silly, but the fact of the matter is that the refs blew the BCS Championship game early on. Consider what would have happened if the refs hadn't intentionally botched the fumble on the punt in the first quarter. The reason I say intentionally is that it was so obvious that they should overturn the call, but they didn't, even after commercial break.
Now if the refs weren't blind, paid off by vegas bigshots due to high betting on the plus 10 for Notre Dame, or just negligent, Notre Dame would've had the ball on the 35 yard line of Alabama down 7-0. If Notre Dame comes up with a Td, we have a tie game and the defense comes out fired up. Even if Alabama were to go down field and make it 14-7, Notre Dame would still be able to run the football. The fact that the botched call forced Notre Dame to a 14-0, pass only situation really helped Alabama sit back and play against the pass. No power run game for Notre Dame.
Now I ask you. Did Alabama really need that kind of help by the refs, if even to just cover the 10 points? No they didn't. Of course the game could have turned a different tide had the refs played fairly, however, Alabama did seem to have been very ready to play at a championship level and the game would've been leaning their way.
All I ask is that they play fair and this time, the refs put the game away early and robbed Notre Dame of any chance to compete. Expect Notre Dame to come back next year and set them all straight.
