Breaking Bad has us on the edge of our seats going into the season climax and here is my summary on tonight's episode and what could play out next week and next season.
Walt is in dire straits as he hides out in his home while his family is under the protection of the DEA courtesy of Hank. Hank encourages DEA agents to scour the dry cleaning place for a meth lab, forcing Gus to take drastic action to put pressure on Jesse to erase Walt and allow Gus to focus solely on the DEA situation. After Jesse refuses to allow Walt to be killed by Gus, Gus promised a quick response. The very next day, Jesse's girlfriend's son falls ill and Jesse realizes that it was risen, the poison from his cigarette pack. He, in a panic, sets out to Walt's home to kill him, mistakenly thinking it was Walt who was seeking revenge. Walt explains to Jesse that it was Gus who probably poisoned the child. They both conspire to (although that wasn't shown, it was revealed to be the case near the end of the episode) force Gus out into the open where Walt can place a remote control bomb under Gus's car. Gus, after leaving the hospital, gets a sixth sense and doesn't approach the automobile with his two henchman, but rather, decides to take a cab. Walt, sitting behind a railing in a building at a distance lays there frustrated, fade to black.
It was very tense at the end, as we thought Walt was going to kill Gus, but not so fast. Vince Gilligan has another episode planned and one which could leave many unanswered questions going into the final season. I think the "secret" informant next week will be none other than "Hector Salamanca", the wheelchair bound former cartel member getting even with Gus, resulting in Gus's demise in the finale. And Hector could very well be the head of the cartel next season battling or at least dealing with Walt and Jesse. That, coupled with Hank's inevitably finding out about Walt's involvement in drugs promises for a great final season.
