According to Furry, better known as the "Squealing Squirrel", Punxsutawney Phil has successfully forecasted 4 straight world series champions. The world knows all about the cardinal on the Punxsutawney scene two years ago, which braintrusts say was called down by Phil just after he yiped about not being able to see his shadow. Lo and behold the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series that year.
Last year, although this author was hoping to read the groundhog's lips as saying "Metsies, Metsies", it turned out that, at least according to Furry the squealing squirrel, Phil saw his shadow. Shortly after seeing his shadow and proclaiming a short winter season, Phil said "Gosh". However, now remember this is according to Furry the squealing squirrel, it sounded like he said "Josh, Josh" repeatedly. If that's the case, and according to this braintrust it appears to be the case, then Punxsutawney Phil, for the 4th straight year predicted the World Series Champions. In this case, it was the Boston Red Sox, by clearly stating the name of their ace pitcher Josh Beckett and the fact that he'd lead them all the way.
This year Punxsutawney Phil didn't hesitate in predicting the 2008 world series champions, the Mets. You see, according to my close connection, you guessed it, Furry the squealing squirrel, who just happened to browse acrossed my Central New Jersey lawn late this afternoon, Punxsutawney Phil could not see his shadow and got flushy faced. That proves it! A flushy face on Punxsutawney Phil clearly and most definitely declares that the Flushing New York baseball team, the Mets will win the World Series in 2008.
