The Bronx Is Burning

The Bronx Is Burning, again! Joe Torre in meeting with reporters today, in the demeanor he usually displays, revealed his feelings by saying he was insulted by the bogus offer that Steinbrenner and Co. offered him. He joked about his age, about his bald spot, and expressed surprise over the number of reporters assembled. He also stated he would listen to offers from other clubs about managing. The problem here isn't really the fact that Joe Torre wasn't wanted anymore, but moreso, how the Yankees brass handled the situation.
The Yankees dealt with this decision in an absolute unethical, uncoordinated fashion, showing no definitive leader in the organization, except a group of bumbling inheritants and unqualified execs. George Steinbrenner, his two sons, team president Randy Levine and Brian Cashman are clueless, overzealous, unrespectful idiots. They don't know what it takes to win, but because they spend, they'll have times when things gel together and create dynasties. But money alone will never guarantee a championship, because you need baseball intelligence and love and respect for your manager, coaches and players. Something no one at the executive level have.
So expect to see another circus show, whereby pawns get manipulated, fired and rehired at whim, before such a dynasty emanates. Expect the Bronx to be flooded with more over-sized contracts for over-aged players, disgruntled players and too much pressure on forthcoming managers and coaches to win NOW or else. This will only result in a spinoff of the retro show to a modern version of "The Bronx Is Burning".
