- For most of you sports fans out there, "Mike and the Maddog" are a well known radio talk show duo. Featured on Yes Network and on New York radio station "The Fan" 660AM (Wfan), they talk about every sports known to sportsdom, and do a really good job balancing out the sports topics properly. Today was a special feature though. Mike Francesa and Chris "Maddog" Russo did play by play coverage of the May 25th afternoon game between the Mets and the Phillies. This was all for local charities and was in good fun. And fun it was.
- It's one thing to hear familiar voices discussing familiar topics day in and day out year after year. It's quite another to put them at the mike to cover a live game. You see a whole different aspect of this famous duo trying to adjust to live reporting of a sports event, which is much different than reporting facts and opinions about various sports and baseball topics. They did a good job overall, although it was quite hilarious at times as Mike and the Maddog struggled with their terminologies and vocabulary. There was a base hit by Cliff Floyd in the third inning and Mike Francesa said "that's his second hit on the ballgame". I couldn't help but laugh as He mis pronounced certain other words also. Maddog got me laughing a few times as He stated on certain pitches, "Here's the forthcoming pitch". Ha Ha. What a change of pace this was. Maddog put alot of energy into his broadcast though, and he is very animated and fun to listen to during a live broadcast.
- If you do not know who I'm talking about here, wakeup! Get a satelite dish if necessary and tune into the Yes Network, or try a shortwave radio to find them on 660AM WFAN. Granted, they can't cover that much outside their New York area teams, but they are well worth checking in with once in a while, especially when a major sports topic breaks in the news. They do a great job providing interviews with many major sports figures. Mike and the Maddog outdid themselves today. They really were fun and entertaining, and gave Met and Phillie fans a refreshing change to their usual baseball broadcasts. - Mark C. - (Baseball News Headquarters)

I love Mike Francesca in his NBC Sunday night "Miked-Up" Sports show. He had the Mad Dog Russo on after the Superbowl and they were both besides themselves.
Go Giants!
